34 WEEKS REMAINING - MESA, AZ

Feb.27, 2017

This week was pretty good! We were blessed to find a couple of really great people! We ran into someone named C_______! We felt prompted to talk about Repentance with him!  We went back and his family answered and told us they were members! And so when we went back we found his daughter and his son in law (who are recent
converts) and they told us they were going to a different Ward.. so we were like.. Hey! You should come to our branch! And he said he would dedicate one day a week for three hours!

We were also able to take J_____ to the Visitors Center. We watched the Joseph Smith movie with him and afterwards we asked him if he believed Joseph Smith was a prophet and he said "I know Joseph Smith was a
prophet" and then we asked him if he believed that this was the Church of Jesus Christ. And he said "This is the Church of Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost has told me in my Heart" so we invited him to follow Jesus Christ and be baptized and he told us that he was already baptized in Guatemala. We then re taught the Priesthood and Authority and invited him again, but he insisted that he's already been baptized. Haha so well just keep working with him. He's great.

Hahahha Sunday we got a call from one of our investigators. And then they told us that they we're getting married! Haha he was like, just come on down to the church! Hahah so we went down to the church and served as witnesses for the Wedding! My favorite Story of Jesus Christ when he came down and healed all of them.

8 For I perceive that ye desire that I should show unto you what I have done unto your brethren at Jerusalem, for I see that your faith is sufficient that I should heal you. 9 And it came to pass that when he had thus spoken, all the multitude, with one accord, did go forth with their sick and their afflicted, and their lame, and with their blind, and with their dumb, and with all them that were afflicted in any manner; and he did heal them every one as they were brought forth unto him.

It's true for us as well. We may not understand how his healing power works, it may not make everything easy. But we will feel the help coming from the Atonement! Love you guys!

Elder JensenHahah down here everyone uses "la chancla" hahha they just give them a
good spank with it and it works every time. Yeah it did a little bit..
but I just won't worry about it for now. Hahaha well just wait and see
where it goes! That's so crazy it's like March and Snowing like that!
I miss the Snow a ton. Thanks Mom!

I truly am grateful to be here. I've learned a lot. Sometimes it just gets old haha and missionaries want to go home but it's all worth it. I've felt and had the Most Spiritual experiences here on my mission and also felt like so attacked by Satan. It's crazy how real the Power of god is and how real the adversary is. Haha yep but that's still a
LOT of time. I hope we can help this Branch grow more with the time I'm here. I've just felt happy doing the Best that I can. Can you send me a Dale Hansen's email and Uncle Ron's? Let the Brothers know that I love em!

Love you Mom! You're the Best Mommy! :)

35 WEEKS REMAINING - MESA, AZ

Feb. 20, 2017

We had a pretty good week! My new companion is Elder Palmer, he's from  West Virginia and he's been in the Mission about 3 months! He's great! He's super funny and super into cats. People think we're brothers, and
they think he looks like Toby McGuire from Spider Man. So that makes everything a lot funnier.

This week was good! Haha even though we tried to talk with as many people as we could no one turned out to be very interested.. BUT we recieved like 4 referalls from the English Elders and four of them ended up being Members! Haha it was awesome! They all have said they want to come to church some hopefully we can get them excited to come to church this week!

Also we got a Referall named J_______. He seems really interested! He came to our volleyball activity but didn't make it to church! Spanish is his second language, he speaks some dialect named like Maum or something like that.

Also we had an investigator come to church named J_____! He's awesome!  He's the one who just wanted to change his life and he said he wants to come to church like continually! It's great! It was SUPER rainy.
There's so much Work to do in this Area with Investigators and Members! I hope we can be more organized and help the more move forward over here! Love you all! I just want to testify that God Loves us! He truly does! I wish I knew exactly how the comfort of the atonement works when we feel sad, or how we can feel his love when we
doubt ourselves. I don't know exactly how it works.. but I know IT WORKS! I love you all, have a great week!

Elder "Spiderman" and I

Thanks for the advice! I'll probably do something like that when I go home. But that's what I would be interested in doing! Haha I just want to help people and not sit on my butt all day. And like it's not that important to make tons of money. Just enough to provide  for the family. But you know J______ the guy I talked about? I had an awesome experience. When we met him and taught him the restoration I just had this overwhelming feeling that I knew him. And when I had that I felt like I knew him in the pre existence. Super cool!

This week was actually kinda difficult. A lot was built up from last transfer because the Elder I was with had decided he was going home so didn't participate a whole lot in our lessons, so  I just got really overwhelmed with everything and really frustrated because I felt like no one was accepting our message and I just felt like i was a really bad teacher. And I just got like really overwhelmed because the Branch is junk haha but I don't know how but I just felt so much love from Heavenly Father. It truly is amazing all the blessings I've received from him and will receive from him. Including having you and dad as incredible parents. I love you guys! Thanks for all your support!

36 WEEKS REMAINING - MESA, AZ

February 13, 2017

This week we had the Baptism of M_____, J____, and A_____! It was great! They wanted to do it before Elder Ramon left and so we had the great help of the Primary President and she helped us out a ton by basically setting it up for us! Sister Allen is great!

There is a curse on this HUGE apartment complex that is full of latinos, Hardly ever do we get rejected at first, but I think I've only had two or three return appointments go through. So we dropped a lot of people in there. We had an awesome door contact with someone named H____ and he like wanted to read the Book of Mormon and hear our message but... surprise, he wasn't there for his return appointment. However! We did find an awesome Guatemalan Family that have strong beliefs in Christ and they are allowing us to come over and help their young daughter with her homework and teach them more! (We have another family at we teach English to and teach the gospel to, and one from El Salvador that we have been helping them clean their house because the wife is pregnant and we have been trying to teach them as well!

Also, since Elder Ramon is going I will be getting Elder Palmer from West Virgina with me.

It's also starting to get reallllly warm. Like super warm! I think a couple of days ago it was around 80 degrees. I hope I'm not on Bike this summer but we'll see haha!

An elder Taught me how to skinny ties so we just have saved up all these fat ties with cool designs and just make them slimmer.. I think I found my new career.

I love Jesus Christ, I love his Teachings. I love the commandments! I think this is a scripture that a good friend of mine shared with me!

Mosiah 2:22 And behold, all that he requires of you is to keep his commandments; and he has promised you that if ye would keep his commandments ye should prosper in the land; and he never doth vary from that which he hath said; therefore, if ye do keep his commandments he doth bless you and prosper you.

I know we have the commandments for a reason. It's for our own good! Sin always leads to unhappiness. I love you guys and I hope you have a great week!

Hahaha that's good! We need to simplify our lives! Hahaha dogs are
super gross! I'm kind of surprised Maisey is still around.. happy but
surprised. 🐶 Hahah that's great! I haven't actually dreamed in
Spanish a ton so that's awesome! Hahaha how do you feel you're
learning it? Yes! I loved the package! I already ate all the Reese's

37 WEEKS REMAINING--MESA, AZ

FEB 6, 2017

The Week we had was pretty good. On Monday we had a FHE with the P_____ family and the A_______ Family! It was good! It was centered on Faith in Jesus Christ and helping them find that desire to be baptized. We have this thing where one family comes to church EVERY Week but they don't want to get baptized haha and we have one family that wants to get baptized but NEVER come. Hahaha so if anyone has some awesome suggestions for those two situations that would be great!:)

With the new schedule change we have been trying to get better at proselyting in the Morning. We feel that if the Lord wanted us to leave earlier we should do it! And we got blessed! We found this awesome guy named S______. He actually was baptized like 4 years ago but wants to return to church and Repent. He truly is humble and we're trying to work with him!

So Last week out of nowhere these three kids from a less-active part member family decided they wanted to get baptized! So we were like.. GREAT! The elders here had been working with them for so long And they finally decided to do it. They wanted my companion to do the baptism.. but he leaves in a week because he recieved his Visa for Mexico. Soooo we have to do it his Saturday and it's super stressful because M____ (one of the kids) didn't pass her interview.. SO we are going to try to teach her everyday to have her be prepared for this Saturday! But it will all work out :)

My mom has this saying posted in our basement and I think about it all the time.. It says "Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured." And it's so true! Since coming on my mission I have seen so many peoples lives that consist of work, sleep, eat, repeat. But I know there's so much more to this life! As it says in 2 Nephi 2:25 "Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy" There's so much Joy when we follow the Lord! Look for it! Live it and I promise you will feel it! Love you all so much!

Elder Jensen

That's awesome! I totally forgot it was the Super Bowl until Sunday. Oh yeah she might be up for the pagent. We haven't taught J_____ in a while actually.. oh yeah I________ got deported hahha I forgot to tell you that. And we don't have any contact with him :( it's super sad.  But we will see him after his Life!:) hey Mom what would I need to do to be a deputy? Haha I have no idea what to do! I know he ARMY isn't right for me but I would love to do something like that. Tell the fam I don't have time to email them back but I love them! Thanks for the emails!

38 WEEKS REMAINING--MESA, AZ

JAN. 30 2017

This week was funny! We had a lot of funny stuff happened. Mostly just like funny stuff our investigators said. Speaking espanglish but only saying the swear words in English haha. One of the kids swore in the Visitors Center and the Sisters face was priceless. Haha. Apparently a bunch of stuff with Trump is going down and all of the hispanics down here are getting scared. We had a drunk guy that we talked to and we said "Hello Brother! How are you?" And he said. I'm not Brother, I'm a drunk. Hahha then he went on talking about how they should burn trump and all the white people. We tried asking him what part of Guatemala he was from but he just said it's really close to a town called Beans. Haha.

We contacted a Referall named J_____ R______. He's super cool! He said he's in a rough time and he really just wants to change and be better. He came to church too! We actually had a Stake Conference and M. Russell Ballard came and spoke to us! It was really good. He spoke to us about controlling our natural Desires and stuff. It was really good!

There's a lot of work to do with the Ward. We've been trying to work and try to heal the hurt wounds. Haha we've met some awesome less actives. We actually met one and his niece was super interested. She had been visiting family in Guatemala and she actually went to church and studied with the missionaries. So it was great!

This is one of my favorite Quotes. And I think we can apply it to our Life! We can always beg the Lord to try and make us an instrument in his hands. We don't have to be a missionary to be able to hasten the work of our Heavenly Father. He can work wonders with us, if we allow it.

“Every morning … , missionaries should get on their knees and plead with the Lord to loosen their tongues and speak through them to the blessing of those they will be teaching. If they will do this, a new light will come into their lives. There will be greater enthusiasm for the work. They will come to know that in a very real sense, they are servants of the Lord speaking in His behalf. They will find a different response from those they teach. As they do so by the Spirit, their investigators will respond under the influence of the same Spirit.”

--President Gordon B. Hinckley

Love you all!

That's good! I read the Book of Mormon in English yesterday and it was different just because I try to study in Spanish, oh yeah I don't miss that! Gross smog. Oh yeah! So now Grandma is going to get a new toy huh? (Showed EJ photos of the Ice Castles we went to in Midway).  Oh I bet that was sweet! Do they do that every year? That's good that she's adjusting! How old is Maisey again? Like 12? I'm glad too. Haha yanks for sending me hat! I'll read it tomorrow for personal study. Thanks Mom! I love you! Have a great week!

39 WEEKS REMAINING--MESA, AZ

JAN. 23, 2017

This week was a pretty good week! It rained a ton on Friday! It was awesome! There's this Huge like three story apartment complex that we go and contact in, it's like 93 percent Hispanic so you'd think it's a gold mine. We can find investigators pretty easy but they're hardly ever there for the return appointment. Haha it's pretty discouraging. But! Crazy Story! (This one needs a little back story) Back when I was in Liahona 4th Ward a member gave us a referall for some one, and I lost the card on accident.. but a couple of Weeks ago we street contacted  the referall! Haha it was super cool! And we taught him the Restoration and then we gave him a blessing because he chopped of his fingers on accident, but then he got them sewed back on. But anyways we gave him a blessing and he started to cry! But then he made us leave before we could ask him why he was crying.

We taught the A_________ Family again and they came to church! J_____ did not accept Baptismal date, but we said he would continue to learn and he would actually pray and read!

We taught M__________! And he said he would get Baptized! But he won't come to church... so we're working on the that. He's really awesome guy! He loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was smiling during the Whole thing haha. He said he felt really happy as we read in 2 Nephi 31.

There was a missionary that was having a hard time this week, so we studied the fourth missionary together (a talk about different types of missionaries) and I love this part of the talk

"Contentment,  peace  of  mind  and  happiness  are  always  just  out  of  reach,  ahead  of  him.  All  the  while  he  labors he  thinks  and  wishes  that  things  could  be  the  way  they  used  to  be,  snowboarding  or  wake  boarding,  or  with  his  friends,  or girlfriend,  or  driving  his  car  back  home,  instead  of  tracting  along  a  hot  and  dusty  street  3:00  o'clock  in  the  afternoon.  Little does  he  know  that  things  can't  be,  and  will  never  be,  the  way  they  used  to  be.  Life  is  always  changing;  it  never  stays  the same.  All  the  while  he  labors  he  thinks  that  he  will  be  happy  and  content  when  he  is  transferred,  or  when  he  gets  a  new companion,  or  when  P-day  comes,  or  when  he  is  made  a  senior  companion,  or  district  leader,  or  particularly  when  he completes  his  mission  and  returns  home.  He  thinks  that  he  will  be  happy  when  he  can  get  done  with  what  he  is  supposed to do and finally do what he wants to do. Little does he know that actually he is choosing to never be happy at all."

That is something I've grown to learn in my mission. When we choose to do what the Lord wants us to do we will always be happier. I know that if we humble ourselves and follow the Lords counsel we will be blessed. We must do more than just change our behavior. We must change to what the Lord wants us to be. Love you all so much!

Elder Jensen

(I asked Elder Jensen if he still rode his bike when it was raining.) Hahha yep! We still go out! It's actually really fun! Hahha we rode by this one guy and he got SOAKED by a car as it went through a puddle. His colorful vocabulary cracked me up :)   (Told him I'm trying to declutter and to not have so many "things".)  SUPER true. That's what I agree with, I just want to save my money and try to live simply. Haha. I like that scripture a lot :) thanks for sharing that:) haha I saw that picture of Aunt Gloria's that's so Crazy! Where do they live now?

(A ward member knows someone in his district.)  Oh yeah! Sister Diaz! They're friends? Haha small world it is! I'll have to tell Sister Diaz that. So if the Hawaii trip is too expensive we don't have to do it! I'm thinking (if it's ok with you and Dad) just go to Weber and work for a while until I save up enough to move down to Provo. I've actually been able to maintain a lot on my mission. But yes that's what I've been thinking about. Just going to school at Weber and trying to find a job until I get some sort of certificate.    Hahha Zoey still sounds nuts.

Love you mom! Thanks for everything!

40 WEEKS REMAINING--MESA, AZ

JAN. 16, 2017

40 Weeks? Wow that's crazy. 280 days is a lonnnggtime hahaha wow that would be super weird! That'll be super fun to go to Hawaii right after the mission! Are you all excited? Oh yeah, i forgot that was today! Yeah it was great! The L__________ family has had some pretty great lessons but they just don't Church. Haha but J_____ has been reading and he's come to church 2 times! We're trying to get his faith higher and trying to help him receive his answer! But he went to a Fireside and he said he felt the spirit and warm and happy! We got a little bit of rain. So yeah, we were blessed with someone named M_________. He's the son of a inactive member. Hahaha the dude is huge. He's a 20 year year old that sells for vivint but he like has recognized the spirit that the LDS saints have and he wants it! He didn't come to church, but he is super cool!

How's the Ponds Park ward doin?  They said I'm clear! Nothing to worry about!

Thanks Love you mom! I don't think I'm going to have time to send a weekky!
Love you mom! Be safe!
